Dear Parents & Caregivers,
We had a very exciting and productive April School Council meeting! Meeting attendees discussed and voted on how to spend the funds raised from our silent auction. So far, voting members agreed to spend on STEM technology tools, Books to Go, an outdoor tent, outdoor speakers, a grade 8 grad trip to Wonderland, and student engagement events for next year. While all council attendees can voice their opinions on how dollars are spent, only voting members get to vote. Voting members need to be able to attend all meetings. Stay tuned for details on becoming a voting member next year.
BIG NEWS ALERT! On Tuesday, May 31st, Councillor Josh Matlow will be joining our school council meeting at 7pm to make a big announcement regarding our playground! We encourage as many parents and students as possible to attend to hear the big announcement.
End of Year Event! On June 9th, the School Council is hosting an event for all JR Wilcox families. Generously sponsored by Slavens Associates Real Estate. Event RSVP Required. Order your event pizza via cash online here.

Dear Parents & Caregivers,
What an exciting month we had in March! It started with a virtual family fun night where 40 families joined for baking, dancing, origami, and yoga! Thank you to the parent volunteer organizers and presenters. Stay tuned for an opportunity for a make-up drum session that we weren’t able to hold that night.
Then came March 31st, the closing day of our auction. It was an exciting last hour with the dollar total continuing to rise up until the auction closed at $10,420!!!! We are thankful to all the parents, staff, and community who got their bids in, and we are so grateful to all the businesses that donated to our auction! Please continue to support these businesses and thank them for supporting our school when you do visit them.

Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Thank you for joining us at our November School Council Meeting, if you weren’t able to join, you can see the notes below. We got a chance to meet our interim principal Mrs. Hall who shared some budget updates. We shared our tentative event calendar for 2022 (see below); we wanted to make sure to include both free events and fundraising-driven events. We also still need help from parents to put on these events; you can commit as much or as little time as you have.
NEW this year, we are introducing a fundraising initiative where we are asking those that are able to donate to our school. We’ll work with the staff, teachers, and the School Council to use these funds on items and programs that our kids need including STEAM materials, technology for our school, classroom resources, art supplies, gym equipment, arts programming, anti-bullying programming, and more! Every donation $10 and up gets a tax receipt. We appreciate all levels of contribution, no amount is too small! Know someone that is looking to make a donation to a worthy cause this holiday? Do you have a matching donation program at your work? Our goal is $5000! DONATE HERE!
Looking ahead…
- Watch for an email from your class parents
- Our next council meeting is Tuesday, January 25th at 7pm

Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Thank you to those who made it to our first School Council meeting, if you weren’t able to attend, you can find the notes below. We tried something a little different at our first meeting with virtual brainstorming which resulted in lots of great ideas! With those great ideas, we have put together a tentative event calendar which we will discuss in further detail at our next council meeting.
I am excited to introduce class parents! What’s a class parent you ask? Class parents will play the role of being a connection point between their class and School Council by sharing any important information from School Council meetings and to funnel any ideas or concerns from their respective classes. A few classes still need class parents, see the list below and let me know if you want to get involved!
Our next School Council meeting is scheduled for Nov 30th from 7pm-8:10pm (agenda below). In this meeting, you’ll get to meet our interim Principal, Jennifer Hall. If you would like to add anything to the agenda, please send me an email (ronit.soroksky@tdsb.on.ca) by Monday, Nov 29th.
